EX NIHILO ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF DEAFCYBERCON

Washington, DC (September 20, 2022): Ex Nihilo Management, LLC a consultancy specializing in technology governance, cybersecurity, management consulting and training, is proud to announce the launch of DEAFCYBERCON, an online community and collaborative environment where deaf women can explore, identify and excel at careers in cybersecurity.

In the DC Region alone, there were more than 65,000 cybersecurity job openings without enough trained workers to fill those positions in 2021 . Senior government officials describe the slow pace of cyber hiring as a "national security threat”, while only 25% of their cyber workers are women. Women make up 51% of the population. Gender bias, misperceptions and a lack of female role models have created barriers for this underutilized pool of resources. 42.9% of deaf people between the ages of 25 and 64 are not working or looking for work.

“We’re doing what we can to break down barriers to entry for deaf women. Cybersecurity is a people problem, not just a technical one. It’s a person that steals your identity, hacks into your computer or launches a ransomware attack. We need real people with a variety of skills to solve the problem. You don't need to be a hearing person to work in cybersecurity. As the sibling of two deaf women with successful careers in Government and Healthcare, I saw a huge opportunity to create an equitable pipeline of careers for deaf women in cybersecurity.” says Angela Dingle, President.

DEAFCYBERCON is a call to action for anyone who owns a business is to help close this gap in our national security by creating career opportunities for deaf women in cybersecurity. Deaf women need female role models and mentors to help them prepare for and secure more interviews. Ex Nihilo wants to redefine the future for deaf women in cybersecurity. DEAFCYBERCON will make this happen! To learn more about DEAFCYBERCON, visit www.deafcybercon.us.
